Color affects human feelings. Our perception is very much influenced by colors. So the use of color is undoubtedly very important while designing a website. If the color of a website is not pleasant to the eyes the visitors will not take a minute to leave the site.
When you apply a color make sure that it is neither too light nor too bright. If it is too light then it will leave no impact on the viewer’s mind. If the color is too vivid it can be painful for the eyes. So you need to choose colors that work best.
Recognizing the right color combination is very crucial as well. It is often overlooked by the designers. However remember that a good website truly depends on its colors. So it should be one of the greatest concerns of a web designer. The use of right color can make your visitor comfortable at once and it is needed since reading a text on the monitor is difficult than reading it on a paper.
While some color combinations (like black and white, pink and blue) can make your web page interactive some other combinations (like orange and purple, pink and maroon) can proved to be disastrous. Combinations like yellow-green, red-orange, sky blue-dark blue create a harmonious color scheme.
Complementary colors can also have a good effect. Use of contrasting colors like red and green, blue and orange can make your website come to live. The color of as website also depends on the theme and audience of that website. For example if it a website of garments you can use bright colors like red, yellow and green. If it is a website of toys you can use pink.
There are a few things which you should keep in mind while choosing the color of a website. The background color of all the pages of a website should remain the same. Avoid using very bright colors as the background. Also do not use more than two to three colors on a single page.
One more important fact that you should remember while using color in a website is that web browsers can read 216 to 256 colors. When a user is visiting your website he/she should see your site exactly as you have designed it. So always try to use browser safe colors.
